Participant Agreement & Liability Waiver

Please read this document carefully. By signing this document, you are waiving certain legal rights, including the right to sue Deco Leather Studio LLC, its owners, instructors, and affiliates, for injuries or damages sustained during leathercraft workshops.

1. Voluntary Participation & Class Description

I, the undersigned, hereby acknowledge that I have voluntarily registered to participate in a hands-on leathercraft workshop hosted by Deco Leather Studio LLC (operating as Knotty Oso). I understand that this class involves structural instruction and physical execution of leather working techniques.

2. Assumption of Risk (Inherent Hazards)

I recognize that leathercraft requires the active manipulation of raw materials and the intentional use of specialized industrial and hand tools. I explicitly acknowledge and assume all inherent physical risks associated with the workspace, which include, but are not limited to, handling the following:

• Sharp Edged Cutting Tools: Head knives, utility blades, rotary cutters, skiving knives, and specialized leather shears.
• Impact & Piercing Tools: Heavy mallets, mauls, stitching chisels, awls, pricking irons, and hole punches.
• Thermal & Mechanical Equipment: Electric creasing irons, hot stamping machines, and hardware setting tools.
• Chemical Compounds & Solvents: Leather dyes, alcohol-based finishes, contact cements, strong adhesives, and edge paints.

I understand that handling these materials carries the risk of minor or severe cuts, punctures, thermal burns, skin irritation, chemical exposure, or other accidental physical injuries.

3. Release of Liability & Covenant Not to Sue

In consideration for being permitted to participate in the workshop, I hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue Deco Leather Studio LLC, its individual owners, officers, members, contract instructors, employees, or landlords from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or rights of action arising out of ordinary negligence, personal injury, property damage, or accidental death occurring during or as a result of my presence at the studio or participation in the class.

4. Safety Compliance & Safety Gear

I agree to strictly adhere to all safety protocols, operational guidelines, and verbal instruction provided by the workshop instructor. I agree to wear any required personal protective equipment (such as safety glasses or aprons) if directed. I understand that the instructor retains absolute authority to terminate my participation immediately, without a refund, if my behavior compromises the safety of myself or others in the studio.

5. Media & Promotional Release (Optional)

I hereby grant Deco Leather Studio LLC / Knotty Oso permission to capture photographs or video footage during the workshop session. I authorize the business to use these captured media assets for promotional, social media, marketing, or portfolio presentation purposes without financial compensation to me.

6. Governing Law & Severability

This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida. If any provision or portion of this waiver is determined to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining sections shall continue in full force and effect.

BY SIGNING BELOW, I CERTIFY THAT I HAVE READ THIS DOCUMENT, FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, UNDERSTAND THAT I AM GIVING UP SUBSTANTIAL LEGAL RIGHTS BY SIGNING IT, AND SIGN IT FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY.
